Want to get your skin looking like has an Instagram filter but IRL?
Following these steps religiously will help you achieve a glowy and healthy skin for the #NotFilter selfie.
Never go to bed with makeup on
No matter how tired you are, always make sure you remove all your makeup and clean off your skin before going to bed. Unremoved makeup is often a cause of clogged pores, dull skin, breakout and eye infections (conjunctivitis)
Follow a skincare routine
Skincare is more than just removing your makeup. Since I personally started following a regime my skin has changed a lot (For good). A few months ago, I introduced to my routine toner and serum and I’ve seen such big changes.
Don’t skip sunscreen
Even if is cloudy, always wear SPF. The Skin Cancer Foundation says that clouds block as little as 20% of UV rays — so on a cloudy day you’re still getting up to 80% of the sun’s harsh effects. SPF will prevent your from getting dark spots.
Stay hydrated
Try drinking 2.5 – 3 litters water a day. Drinking water helps to hydrate your skin barrier, and flush out the bacteria underneath the surface of your skin that causes acne. Stress, your diet, environmental factors also trigger acne. If your skin is dehydrated or stressed, water can definitely help clear your skin.
Clean your makeup tools regularly
Bacteria, dirt, and grime can linger in our beauty products and tools, causing breakouts and irritation. I personally recommend to clean brushes once a week and Makeup sponges twice a week.
Exfoliate!
Exfoliating facial skin is very important because it not only rids the skin of dead skin cells and cleanse the pores of sebum and other debris, but it also makes way for other skincare products to be more effective and for makeup to go on easier and look better. You should exfoliate your face once (if you have sensitive-dry skin) or twice week (combine to oily skin).
Use the right products for your skin type
Knowing your skin type and conditions allows you to create your own skincare routine based on your skin’s personal needs. Do this test to know your skin type.
Invest in a good Moisturiser.
